How to Style your Winter Coat

Winter coats are the first thing we think about once the weather turns colder, and as the sartorial backbone of our seasonal wardrobe, it’s absolutely essential that we find and invest in the perfect one. This season at Quattro Rish we are cosying up in everything from statement prints (loving Baum und Pferdgarten’s Danika wool coat) – to maxi coats (SET, Custommade and MiH have created coats that you’ll be cherishing for years).

Length-wise, anything goes. We’re loving maxi coats, but a cool cropped style (Unreal Fur) will look equally chic. With winter coats looking seriously good this season, we also have an amazing collection of super cool accessories and bags to finish off your winter look.   We are beyond excited with Liebeskind Berlin’s AW15 collection of timeless designs and softest, natural leather – a combination which makes this label one of our best sellers.

With the temperature set to drop in the coming weeks, we instinctively develop a natural urge to wrap ourselves up in a stylish maxi coat.  This coat is easy to style; throw over jeans and ankle boots or sporty shoes and tights – add a luxury Liebeskind bag to finish off your look: –

Knitwear is the perfect blend of Fashion & Function

A good knit is a mainstay of your winter wardrobe, but for a contemporary take on old faithful’s, the ribbed knit and roll neck are the key pieces you need to invest in this AW15.

Channel the ‘70s vibe, which is abundant this season with a grooved piece of knitwear in a neutral shade – we love the Dr Denim cable knit jumper in cream and SET chunky knit cropped jumper in grey.  For a casual look, team ribbed knits with jeans, or mix textures and layer with a shirt for a smarter look – style with trainers or heels.

Roll neck jumper, turtleneck jumper, polo neck jumper… Whatever you want to call it, the high neck piece of knitwear is chic, practical and cosy.  For the perfect cover-up / throw-on invest in Baum und Pferdgarten’s chunky cable knit mohair poncho in grey – a must-have layering option for the cooler months. Slip yours on with everything from dresses to casual tees.

For a splash of vibrant colour this autumn team the super soft jumper from Amercian Vintage in carrot (also available in soft grey) with skinny jeans and ankle boots or add a subtle hue of blue with the soft turtleneck in ice blue from Des Petits Hauts.

We love the effortless fine knit layering piece.  This check-patterned jumper from Custommade is perfect for the girl who loves boyfriend jeans but wants to balance this with a feminine touch – add ankle boots to finish off your look.  The Des Petits Hauts green v-neck luxury knit and Bellerose wool jumper are timeless pieces which offer endless styling options – wear with tailored trousers to the office, or flares at the weekend.

The cosy cardigan is a must-have for your winter wardrobe.  We love teaming these cardigans from American Vintage with tailoring just as much as we do with denim.  Designed to fit slightly loose so it layers easily over both office and weekend wardrobe staples – try these cardigans over a dress with boots at the weekend.

There’s a huge trend for big, fluffy teddy-bear coats and faux-furs, this season.  With real fur fast becoming a thing of the past, Unreal Fur have become industry leaders in creating stunning faux fur pieces of the highest quality without the cruelty towards animals – and we are loving the colour and textures that have arrived at Quattro Rish for our first season with Unreal Fur.

The Wanderlust coat is going to be our staple outer-garment over the winter months; warm, cheerful, supremely comfortable and as fashionable worn with jeans and a pair of battered Converse as they are slung over the top of an evening dress.  Add the ivory Thread Through scarf for a subtle statement piece that works beautifully with flares and a chunky knit this autumn.

This season embraces both the 70s and 80s decades with clothing that can be as bold or subtle as you like.  For that bleached-out 70s vibe, style MiH’s London jeans, that have a subtle flare with some faux fur and platform shoes or pointy boots.

To work the 80s trend team a leather pencil skirt with a chunky cropped jumper, add sheer tights with socks and team with sporty or pointy shoes.  Finish off the look with a big-shouldered coat – think Melanie-Griffith-Working-Girl.  Alternatively jump into a pair of wide-leg trousers with platforms.

It’s always handy to have a statement white blouse, but never more so than this season because poking your collar over your jumper is a thing again.  Our favourite white shirts this season at QR are the Poet and Louis from British designer MiH, which can be styled with a statement necklace or under a jumper for a dose of preppy daytime chic.
