Off-Screen Style with Sarah Parish

This week’s style guide was so much fun and all came about when a friend of a friend – who recently lost weight on the Rick Hay Anti-Ageing Food and Fitness Plan – needed a new wardrobe.

It turned out that the friend was actress Sarah Parish, who has just finished filming an eight-part series, The Collection, for Amazon Prime. This month also sees Sarah start filming the third and final series of Broadchurch as well as series six of Trollied.

Styling Sarah Parish was a dream job – confident, beautiful and enthusiastic, she really knew what flattered her body shape. Sarah needed a few easy, casual and effortlessly stylish outfits – something we know a thing or two about at Quattro Rish! We love simplicity; classic yet modern clothes, which are amazing quality but at the same time super easy to wear. We also like to add fun, on-trend pieces into our collections that add a dose of seasonal style to our customer’s wardrobes!

On the go 24/7 as a mum, actress and spokesperson for The Murray Parish Trust – a charity which she founded with her husband after they lost their first daughter Ella-Jayne to congenital heart failure – Sarah regularly attends social events both in her capacity as ambassador for The Murray Parish Trust and as an actress, which is why a capsule wardrobe was all-important.

Does My Bum Look 40 in Reigate…

Since I first visited a couple of weeks ago, I have done nothing but wax lyrical to my local friends about this amazing boutique. Alas, we have nothing similar in Sevenoaks (we so so should!) although maybe I should be grateful as I would be in there every week “just seeing what’s in there”.

Because there really is something for any occasion. At the moment especially when the weather is just – well, not cricket, is it? It’s not exactly Spring…it’s cold…it’s really really quite chilly.

Therefore full on Summer gear just isn’t the ticket yet. We need those pieces in our wardrobe that we can add in to make them just that little bit more interesting. As we’re all pretty much O.V.E.R our Winter clothes that we’ve been wearing since what seems like forever. And retrieve your Spring clothes from last year (when it was considerably warmer I’d like to point out) and they never seem quite as appealing as they were.

It’s the ideal time therefore to treat yourself to something new. Something that can make all the difference to your wardrobe. Or even a whole outfit that you can mix and match with things you already have, that is perfect for this not so mild weather but will still work when the sun comes out.

I managed to find so many outfits from the new stock at Quattro Rish (in fact, had to restrain myself otherwise we would have been there all week). Starting with all black…

No these aren’t cheap but cost per wear, these will owe you nothing in a very short space of time. The most fabulous bum hugging, leg lengthening, muffing hiding trousers of wonder. And what’s not to love about a throw on cardigan – the American Vintage Vacville cardi. Perfect for travelling, for layering in the Winter or for keeping your shoulders warm on those cool Summer evenings. For me – my lazy side is most keen to have it wrapped round me on the sofa.

Looks great with either a biker jacket or blazer thrown over for play or even work.

These are the one pair of trousers that will see you through all Spring/Summer and well into the Autumn as well. They are the perfect modern twist on a classic cargo. With flats, with sneakers, with ankle boots, with sandals of the heeled, flat or wedge variety – they really are the pants of the season.

For a more casual look, the most perfect tee to add to your wardrobe to work as a layer or as a top in its own right, is the American Vintage Sonoma Top. – a great linen style classic white long sleeved tee. The perfect sliders finish off the outfit but I would also absolutely wear this outfit with the Ivylee Dee Boots (I may have to make a phone call to order these seeing as I’m not sure how I’m going to live without them.. they look amazing with these trousers). These sandals though, into the Summer will be your go to staple. Buy them now before they sell out. They’re ideal in that they’re not flat flat, they’re not super smart but they’re not super casual. Hopefully there are some ideas there for how to dress in this tricky transitional phase (aka the British Spring.. and Summer for that matter) until we can legitimately crack out the dresses and sandals without fear of getting frost bite. My advice would be to invest in a couple of key pieces, as above, to make you fall back in love with some of your old favourites that may have lost their shine. Or just go the whole hog and buy an outfit that you can reinvent in many different ways. Personally I’m with the latter suggestion. If the sun isn’t shining, this is guaranteed to brighten your days instead!

Say it with Stripes !

A perennial print trend, stripes are big news again for spring/summer 2015. From skirts to shirts, trousers and blouses, stripe is one of the biggest trends of the season and are coming from all directions at different widths and in refreshingly vibrant hues. Take a closer look at fashion bloggers and you will see stripes at the forefront of current street look trends.

Have some fun with colour and take standard stripes to a playful level. Whether subtle or bold, high contrast or red, it’s all about going linear. For spring, there’s only one rule of thumb — more is more. So, mix, match and pile it on because this season you can’t go wrong !

Skirts Of The Season

and how to wear them…

Blink and you could miss the odd bare leg brave enough to display itself fresh from hibernation. Spring 2015 welcomes a variety of different skirt styles that on warmer days can be styled with boxy jumpers and sneakers and on cooler days layered with tights, loose knits, jackets and ankle boots. Spring Awakening

With the days now getting noticeably longer, we can’t help but start to dream about our spring wardrobes. Well, to be honest we have been fawning over our new arrivals at Quattro Rish headquarters for a couple of weeks now!

One item this spring that is perfect for the transition from winter to spring is the spring jacket. Currently being blogged about everywhere as a favourite spring trend on the streets of Europe, this season’s spring jacket can be dressed up (worn smart) or equally thrown over jeans and teamed with sneakers, slip-on pumps or ankle boots. Smart Tips for Instant Outfits this Winter…

Instead we want you to make the most out of your wardrobe and embrace the season with all its prints, colour, textures and shapes by following these smart style tips :-

1. Invest in a statement coat; our new favourite at Quattro Rish is the black long line Tina coat from Twist & Tango. This is an absolute staple for the winter wardrobe.

2. Make sure you have a pair of sneakers and ankle boots that can be paired with your favourite jeans, trousers, dresses and skirts; the Sol Sana Luca boot is feminine and on-trend for this season.

3. Layering plays a large part in our winter wardrobe. We adore the cat t.shirt by Des Petits Hauts teamed with the chunky knit cardigan from American Vintage. Style with colour this season and add some winter chic with the sapphire long sleeved top from American Vintage and Becksondergaard wool scarf draped loosely around the shoulders // scarves are big this season.

4. We take our inspiration from the streets and are obsessed with the way denim is worn by the many style bloggers across Europe. Boyfriend jeans are everywhere again this season so wear rolled with ankle boots and unrolled with sneakers, don’t worry though as the skinny jean is still a firm favourite!
